Giving Sramad a musical life

This week I explored the many moods of Power of Heroes through a seventeen-track album, from sweeping adventures to the quieter spaces between them.

This week I've been exploring what the world of Power of Heroes might sound like. Sramad has room for sweeping journeys, crowded streets and moments of danger, but it also has quieter spaces: the pause after an argument, a familiar road at dusk, or the feeling of being alone with a difficult choice. I wanted the music to carry that same range rather than settling into one endless heroic theme.

The result is a seventeen-track album running just under an hour. I shaped it through direction, iteration and selection with ElevenLabs, listening for pieces that felt as though they belonged to different corners of the same world. Some are broad and adventurous, while others are intimate, reflective or a little mysterious. When a generation leaned too heavily on a repeated motif, I went back and worked on it again. The aim was never to make every track sound alike, but to let the album move through Sramad's varied moods while still feeling connected.

It has been a lovely way to experience the setting from another angle. A map can show the distance between places, and prose can bring a character close, but music creates its own kind of doorway. These pieces have made me think again about the scale of Aventis, the cold roads of Norvisca and the small human moments that sit between the larger adventures. You can now listen to the complete Power of Heroes album on YouTube.

I've also continued revising Jorgen the Bear, strengthening the journey, the people around Jorgen and the consequences that carry through its later chapters. It remains a working manuscript, but this week's changes have made the story feel fuller and more connected. For now, though, I hope you'll spend a little time with the album. Put it on while you read, write, walk or simply need an hour somewhere else, and see which corner of Sramad finds you first.
